How frustrating! Having been given the green light by the RWA to hold the Albert Rigby race we find that the Ex-Servicemen’s club at Sutton is no longer available on October 3rd. Covid -related changes to the interior layout of the club are being carried out over the said weekend. Roy Gunnett advised by our great friend, Glyn Jones had done a great job in ensuring our submission for permission met all the criteria – thanks also to Colin Vesty for his support. Certainly this preparatory work should hold us in good stead for future requests for permits, the next on the horizon being the AGM 5k in early November. Nothing about this process is straightfoward, particularly in terms of demands on the venue itself, in this case the village hall. We’ll keep you posted on developments.

In the meantime the virtual world beckons with two immediate deadlines.
- The Virtual 2k series organised by Helen Elleker and John Constandinou reaches its 26th Week and it would fitting to forward as many submissions from our members as possible. All the more so as we should be proud of our consistent high profile support to the venture – see the Week 25 results below.
- As far as our own Club Virtual Series goes this month sees us hosting the Virtual Fred Pearce Relay. The closing date for submitting times to Tony at tonymtaylor@gmail.com has been extended until midnight on Friday, October 2. Sorry to be a pain, even if you’ve already let me know, could you confirm your time. Meanwhile the fiendish and cunning Dave Evans is enjoying creating a cluster of competitive teams, Which trio will come out on top? It should be fun finding out.
