Sadly, our very own Julian Hopkins died yesterday evening. He was a top-class race walker in his own right but is best known as an outstanding, creative and controversial National coach. His 1976 manual is still regarded as one of the best introductions to the intricacies of our event.

In the next week or so we will produce an obituary worthy of Julian’s life and achievements.

10k Goodwin Cup @ Chorley 22nd August 2026

Everything is arranged as normal. Eric Crompton will be opening the church hall at noon. The race will start at 1.00 p.m. As usual, please let Dave Evans know if you are able to attend and in what capacity.
