The Redcar Blast One Hundred Miles

Message from Trevor McDermot about the much awaited Redcar Blast 100. It’s an occasion not to be missed.

Hi to All
May I just make a little mention of the Redcar ‘Blast’ 100 Miles which takes place on the weekend of August 6th/7th, and comprises the 2016 Centurions qualifying event plus RWA National Long Distance Championship for 2016.

This is the first time the annual event has taken place in the North East. There are race options at 20 and 50 Miles as well, and all are invited to join Alf Short in entering any of these, or to come, support and help out. We are also delighted that Fred has accepted the offer to be one of our two Race Referee’s for the whole 24 Hours.

Walkers will travel up and down a 2 Mile circuit on the newly developed sea front, in front of the general public. There will be official water, sponging and feeding stations – the last next to a tented area where the local council have given us free camping for the weekend.

Daniel King (brother of Rio-bound Dominic) has entered the 50M and will be making an attempt at the national 100km best performance of 9 hours 36 mins, which has stood since 1979.

Subsidised Bed + Breakfast accomodation is available on the circuit at special rates of £22/single, £30/ double plus £3/£6 breakfast options from the Friday night onwards.

We are also promoting a Test event on Saturday July 16th at 12 noon (2,4 and 6M races) to which all are welcome, otherwise we will probably see most of you the week after at Bury for the One Hour.
